STEMS2 Goals

Gathering inspiration from the summer semester I hope to continue on my efforts to instill change and passion in the students I come into contact with.  My goals for this semester is to really focus in on what exactly I want to see come to fruition for the nonprofit I am creating.  I especially want to focus on community dynamics and how to incorporate lessons that will lead to community change and increase the livelihood and economic sustainability of the citizens in Koʻolauloa region. I also hope to figure out and prioritize specific topics of knowledge that I think are crucial to incorporate in my curriculum for the non-profit.  I want to identify and build upon topics that will equip students with real life skills and a strong foundation in the understanding of their sense of place.  This is just the beginning of what I hope to achieve and as I forward on this journey I look forward to the changes Iʻll make to my plans and the increase of ideas I will gain from learning together with everyone.

  1. Aloha Puaonauna! First of all, congratulation on creating a nonprofit organization! Praying for lots of blessings to your new endeavor. Second, I would like to commend you of coming up with all these goals for this semester, you go girl! I would love to give you advice for at least one goal but instead I think I could be a great cheerleader for you. I do admire that you are so mindful to increase the livelihood and economic sustainability of the people of Ko'olauloa Region. I guess because I have a different mindset that I'm so enthusiastic for you to be super successful in this goal because you are always thinking about the whole of the people in the area, whereas, I'm only thinking about the students in my school. Finally, I love the idea of building a "strong foundation in the understanding of their sense of place," in your non-profit. Last night we went over Na Hoopena A'o. The sixth statement Strengthened Sense of Hawaii I could see how you can be a great role model for this statement for students to learn sense of place. Love your vibrant blog page. See you in class. Rae.

You are an inspiration for me because you think of the whole community and their future. I'm a cheerleader in your corner. A non-profit organization! You go girl. This past summer has taught me that the organizations we visited and learned from have the passion and heart that I hear echoed in your words.
